Setting up

How do I turn the keyboard on?
  1. Open Settings, then General, then Keyboard, then Keyboards.
  2. Tap Add New Keyboard and choose Klavette.
  3. Optional: tap Klavette in the list and turn on Allow Full Access (see below).

The Klavette app's first-run screens show these steps and tell you when the keyboard is on.

How do I switch to Klavette while typing?

Press and hold the globe key at the bottom of the keyboard, then choose Klavette. Tap the globe to move to the next keyboard. On iPad, Klavette draws a globe key wherever iPadOS does not already show one.

What is Full Access, and what does it change?

Full Access is an iOS setting for keyboards that share information with their app. For Klavette it is recommended, not required.

  • With Full Access: settings you change in the app and the words the keyboard has learned reach the keyboard, and Klavette Pro's Mini keyboard works.
  • Without it: the full keyboard still works.

Klavette does not use Full Access to send what you type anywhere. See the privacy policy.

Which languages and iOS versions does it support?

English only for now. Klavette needs iOS 26.2 or later on iPhone or iPad.

Using Klavette

What is the difference between Mini and the full keyboard?

Mini is one thin row of ten keys. Each key is a column of the usual keyboard (QAZ, WSX, EDC, RFV, TG, BYH, NUJ, MIK, OL, P). Tap once per letter, roughly, and the bar above shows the words you probably meant. Mini is part of Klavette Pro.

The full keyboard is a regular QWERTY keyboard with numbers, symbols, emoji and glide typing. It is free.

To go from Mini to the full keyboard, swipe up on the suggestion bar. To come back, swipe down on the suggestion bar.

What are the Mini gestures?
Do thisYou get

Swipe right again straight afterA full stop and space, with other punctuation offered
Swipe leftDeletes the word you are typing, or the last word

Press and hold a keyA magnifier to pick the exact letter

Long-press a suggestionMakes the keyboard forget that word

The lessons in the app practise each one. You can reopen them any time from Lessons in the app.

Mini picks the wrong word. What can I do?

Pick another suggestion from the bar, or flick up and to the left right after the word to swap in the next best one. For exact letters, press and hold a key, or swipe up for the full keyboard. If it keeps suggesting a word you never want, long-press that suggestion to make the keyboard forget it. Suggestions improve as it learns your words.

How do I use AutoFill and macros?

In the app, open Settings, then Typing, then AutoFill and save your name, emails, phones, address and work details. When a field asks for one of them, such as an email field, it appears as a pill on the suggestion bar. Tap it to fill. Card numbers and passwords are never stored. Macros are set up under Settings, then Typing, then Keyboard Macros. Your AutoFill details and macros stay on your device.

Klavette Pro: trial, restore, codes, cancelling

What is free and what is Pro?

Free: the full keyboard with glide typing, autocorrect, emoji, AutoFill and macros, learning, lessons and typing practice.

Klavette Pro: the one-row Mini keyboard in every app, and docking and Split on iPad and the unfolded iPhone Duo (dock left or right, or split into two halves).

How does the free trial work?

The yearly plan starts with a 2-week free trial. You are not charged during the trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it becomes a paid yearly subscription and Apple charges your Apple Account. To avoid the charge, cancel before then (see below). You can keep using Pro until the trial ends. The trial is available once per Apple Account.

How do I restore a purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open the Klavette app and choose Restore Purchases on the Klavette Pro screen. If Pro does not come back, check that you are signed into the Apple Account that bought it (Settings, then your name).

How do I redeem a gift or discount code?

Codes are Apple offer codes. Redeem one in the Klavette app, or in the App Store app: tap your profile picture, then Redeem Gift Card or Code. The code's own terms, such as expiry, apply.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose Klavette and tap Cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal or trial end date to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app does not cancel it. After you cancel, Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles payments and refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund purchases ourselves.

Does Family Sharing work?

No. Klavette Pro is not available with Family Sharing.

iPad, iPhone Duo and iPhone sideways

How do I move or split the keyboard on iPad, the unfolded iPhone Duo or a sideways iPhone?

Keyboard positions are part of Klavette Pro and show in Settings, then Layout & Appearance. They work wherever the keyboard is wide enough: iPad, the unfolded iPhone Duo, or any iPhone turned sideways. Held upright, an iPhone keeps the full-width keyboard.

  • Dock: pinch in on the keyboard to dock it to the side your fingers are on. Use the arrow button beside it to move it to the other side. Pinch out to return to full width.
  • Split: spread two fingers on the full-width keyboard to split it into two halves on the left and right edges. Pinch to join it again. Glide typing is off while split.
  • Narrow windows: where both halves do not fit, Split stays full width.

The Big Screens lessons in the app walk you through each one.

What about the folded iPhone Duo?

On the folded outer screen, Mini's single row leaves room to see what you are writing, and Klavette keeps the keyboard clear of the system's globe and dictation buttons beside it. Mini's one row is built for a single thumb. On the unfolded inner screen, Klavette docks to a side or splits, like on iPad (both are part of Klavette Pro), and Split keeps the keyboard off the fold.

Can I float the keyboard on iPad?

Klavette cannot float itself. If you float Apple's keyboard first, then switch to Klavette with the globe, Klavette stays floating. To float: on Apple's keyboard, hold the keyboard key at the bottom right, choose Floating, then tap the globe for Klavette. To dock again, switch back to Apple's floating keyboard and pinch out on it.

Your data

What does Klavette record, and how do I turn it off?

Klavette records typing stats on your device only, never from password, email, web address, phone-number or other sensitive fields, and keeps them for 60 days. In the app, open Settings, then Privacy & Analytics to turn collection off or choose Delete All Analytics. Read the full privacy policy.

How do I delete the data I uploaded to the developer?

Uploading is optional and off unless you turn it on. If you did upload, email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my uploads" and the nickname you used. We will delete everything filed under that nickname and confirm by email within 30 days. Otherwise each upload is deleted automatically 12 months after it is uploaded. Because uploads are filed by nickname, we cannot find yours without it. Records still on your device are cleared separately with Delete All Analytics.

How do I clear what the keyboard learned?

In the app, open Settings, then Suggestions & Learning. You can delete single words under Learned Words, or use the resets under Advanced. You can also long-press the empty suggestion bar in the keyboard for a reset menu, or long-press a single suggestion to forget it.

When something is off

Klavette does not appear in the keyboard list or when I press the globe

Check Settings, then General, then Keyboard, then Keyboards, and make sure Klavette is added. If it is, restart the app you are typing in. If the problem stays, restart your device.

Mini is locked or missing

Mini is part of Klavette Pro. Check that your trial or subscription is active (Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions), try Restore Purchases in the app, and make sure Allow Full Access is on for Klavette so the keyboard can tell Pro is active.

Nothing suggests as I type in some fields

That is on purpose in password, card, one-time code and similar fields. Email, web address, search and number fields also get fewer or literal suggestions and are never recorded.
